Ever since the first edition in Vienna, multiple souls have coexisted within the term Media Architecture: the aesthetic as much as the theoretical, the interactive as well as the political. The attempt to bind together market operators, academia and artistic practices created a dynamic equilibrium encapsulated perfectly by the Conference day, with papers that explored an incredible variety of scales, approaches and conjugations of Media Architecture.
The in-depth research of every paper ever presented at MAB allows us to analyse the spectrum covered in each edition, and eventually decipher patterns and trends concerning the evolution of the discipline.
Volume 59 – Futures Implied is the result of a collaboration between Volume and the Media Architecture Biennale. This year’s edition MAB20 will take place from June 24-July 2nd as an online event. For more information about the program, see www.mab20.org
