First there was modernity, the desire to be free of the chains of tradition. Then there was post-modernity: the understanding that even emancipation cannot be based on a particular tradition of thought or morality. In the meantime, modernisation continues on relentlessly. Isn’t there a better word for it? ‘Murdernity’ perhaps?
