Volume in Residence at the Shenzhen Biennale!

Tomorrow at 3:15 PM, the Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture will be officially opened. The Grand Opening will take place at the Value Factory, main venue of the Biennale, located at the heart of the Shekou Industry Park in Shenzhen. We’re proud to announce that Volume has curated a room at the venue in collaboration with the Berlage Institute.
The Value Factory succeeds the Guangdong Float Glass Factory. From industry to culture, from mass production to value creation. The building will be the main protagonist of this message. It synthesizes more than a dozen roles to shape a unique new institution to celebrate architecture in its broadest sense. It combines a manifesto hall, silo adventure, urban beacon, chapel, panorama deck, museum, event platform, urban farm, design & consultancy studio, academy, education centre, think tank, exhibition facility, workshops, shop, bar and restaurants. And that’s only in its default setting.
But there is more. The Value Factory will feature about 20 world renowned institutions to reflect and act upon this big shift: not only Volume, but also MoMA, V&A, Maxxi, MIT, Droog, OMA, Mies van de Rohe foundation, Hong Kong University, International New Town Institute, The New Institute, Fringe Festival, Riptide, Shenzhen Design Centre, The Berlage, Sao Paulo Bienal, Museum of Finnish Architecture, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Studio X, Fatbird Theatre, Y-space and still counting.
