On Wednesday 3 July, The New Institute in Rotterdam will host a lecture by acclaimed architectural historian and theorist Beatriz Colomina (Princeton University) on the background to Playboy Architecture, 1953-1979, that was also discussed in Volume’s 33th issue on interiors.
Fragments of this exhibition are part of The New Institute’s summer program The Ruin. Playboy Architecture shows how Playboy magazine identified architecture and design as important instruments for the development of a new identity for the American man. Colomina curated this exhibition, which was previously presented in Bureau Europa in Maastricht. Following the lecture, Dirk van den Heuvel (Delft University of Technology) will enter into discussion with Colomina.
The event starts kicks off at 8 PM. Tickets are €7.50 (students € 3.00). Please register here.
