CALL FOR PROPOSALS – The Future in Ruins: Overwriting the 3rd Precinct

Our friends at Confluence Studio are seeking ideas for redeveloping the historic Third Precinct Building in Minneapolis, abandoned since the George Floyd protests in 2020. They invite designers, artists, and community builders to contribute proposals by August 25th, aiming to transform the site into a symbol of positive change and justice. More information is available on their website.

The Third Precinct Building in Minneapolis

This is a quick note from us to share that Confluence Studio asked us to share this so-called ‘Autonomous-RFP proposal’ for an incredibly sensitive and historic mission they have took upon themselves to start collecting ideas for maybe one of the most significant buildings of our time: the Third Precinct Building in Minneapolis. Minneapolis’ Third Police Precinct and its grounds have been abandoned and barricaded since the building was stormed on the evening of May 28th, 2020 by demonstrators following the murder of George Floyd.

Request for proposal: positive new futures

Confluence Studio is asking designers, artists, community builders and others who feel they can contribute to positive new futures for the buildings that consider its past. The deadline is (for now) August 25th and you can find more information on the process on their website; the form of your contribution is relatively open as long as it strengthens the local community to address not just the tragedy surrounding Floyds murder, but also the larger systemic injustices his murder was a result of.
