Volume at Venice Biennale ’16

Friday May 27, we will be live at the Dutch Pavilion during the Venice Biennale 2016. From 10:00 AM, we host Whose Side Are You On?: a discussion on the potential role of architecture in relation to UN Peacekeeping Missions. In addition, it will be the official launch of Volume #48: The Research Turn.
Join us for breakfast to discuss the different positions architects, urbanists and designers can take while working at the front. In this year’s Dutch Pavilion, curator Malkit Shoshan raises questions on the possible role architecture can play in UN Peacekeeping Missions. Over coffee and croissants, we’ll be discussing with Malkit Shoshan (FAST), Kai Vöckler (Archis Interventions Berlin), Reinier de Graaf (OMA / AMO) and Ethel Baraona Pohl (dpr-barcelona) what it means to engage in politically complex situations and to what extent we should shy away from the powers that be. Moderator will be Arjen Oosterman, editor in chief of Volume Magazine.
The event will also mark the official launch of Volume #48: The Research Turn. This issue, which is a second output from the Learning Network, features an insert devoted to BLUE: the exhibition on Malkit Shoshan’s research in Mali, presented at the Dutch Pavilion.
