We are a coalition of experts in urban planning, regional planning, housing, heritage and related topics as economy, law, energy, circularity, sociology and policymaking. Ro3kvit work as an open-source network in close collaboration with students and citizens who can join with ideas, expertise and organisation. We are a mixed team of specialists both Ukrainians and internationals with work experience in Ukraine.
Ro3kvit, will develop a methodology for rebuilding Ukraine’s (physical) infrastructure and cities. We will design for urgent needs in cities now and connect this to future strategies. Learning from the past, we are developing new, future-oriented ways of urban design co-creative organisation and sustainable development. We organise public debates, stimulate local action plans and create new plans and strategies for cities in urgent need of revitalising, from an integrated viewpoint.
We work in different thematic groups that constantly inform and enforce each other. We use knowledge from ourselves and colleagues from multiple disciplines. Local communities are the main stakeholders, sparring partners and co-creators. Themes are planned with different time schedules to start things when possible and prepare for others that can be implemented only later. We are fast but careful, flexible but solid, creative and professional.
It is a delicate topic, to think about reconstruction, while the war is still being fought. But by all means we have to be ready to be able to handle all the enormous tasks that are in front of us. Not only buildings, infrastructures and cities have been demolished during the war, the geopolitical situation has permanently changed. The sources of energy are outdated in a political and technical way. The local communities prove to be more powerful than anybody could imagine.
So re-building the country should be done while re-thinking, re-positioning, re-forming and re-learning.
